There’s nothing like an awesome panoramic view from the mountaintops.
San Bruno Mountain, a short drive south of San Francisco, offers sweeping views of much of the Bay Area on a clear day.
It’s a large and popular California state park, but usually doesn’t feel crowded or overrun with people. Instead, despite its close proximity to a dense urban area, it feels like a world away from everything.
On the less clear days, the park is shrouded in fog, which makes everything extra quiet. It’s a bit ghostly, and in a good way.

Take a stroll down some of the numerous trails, for different views, and a wide variety of wildlife. Or, if you’d rather just ride, take the scenic drive down Radio Road.
The park also offers several picnic tables, so you can pack a lunch with you.
Weather in this area tends to be temperate. It rarely gets very hot, or near freezing. Fog and winds can come in quickly and make things a little chilly, though, so it’s best to wear layers.
